Buckhannon, WV - The Spring Mills Cardinals boys lacrosse team took to the road on Saturday, March 28th to tackle the Buccaneers of Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
The Cardinals fought a tough, long battle in the cold winds of central WV. The Cards jumped out to a 4-2 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. And led 10-4 at the half.
The Bucs battled back in the 2nd half, however, the battled tested Cardinals held on for the 12-9 victory.
The Cardinals were led by sophomore attack, Jared Yates and his 3 goals and 5 assists. Also scoring 3 goals on the day were Ben Adams (Sr) and Trevor Brown (So), who also added 3 assists.
Garrett Hooper (Jr) notched 2 goals and Trevor Campbell (So) got in the scoring column for the first time this year.
Logan McCulley (So) dished out 2 assists while Brad Curtin (So) was credited with 1 assist.
Senior goalie, Seth Posey, had a fine day tending the nets with 15 saves on 24 shots on goal.
Spring Mills stands at 3-1 this year while leading the WVSLA Division 2 with a 3-0 league record.
They next take the field with cross-town rival Berkeley County Pride on Thursday, April 2 at 7pm at Cardinal Stadium at SMHS.
